Heaven Can Wait Mission
Goal 1
To educate the community about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. There are many advanced treatments for breast cancer, but if it is not detected early, those treatments may not work.
Goal 2
To encourage our community to walk or run for their health. We would like to especially encourage people who have never participated in an event of this type to join us. A special invitation is extended to cancer survivors – they are an inspiration to us all.
Goal 3
To bring the community together in a celebration of life! Join friends, family and neighbors of all ages and athletic abilities in this family-friendly event.
Goal 4
To raise funds for Sara's Project. A program of research, support services, education and low/no cost breast screenings to promote the early detection of breast cancer.
Safety
Aid stations will offer water, and volunteers along the course will encourage and help direct participants. No strollers, dogs, or rollerblades allowed on course for insurance reasons. Listen to announcers and volunteers, and watch for posted signs.
Awards
Honor cancer survivors in our community with festivities at the finish line including music, food, massages and exhibitor booths offering cancer prevention information, free mammogram sign-ups for eligible women and information on local programs and services. Bring your family and friends and join in the celebration.
Prizes will be awarded in the Survivor Category only — 1st, 2nd and 3rd for both female and male. Public acknowledgement will be made for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for all categories in 5-year increments (up to age 70, which will be classified as 70 and over). A ribbon table will be set up and manned and all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, male and female, will be directed there to pick up ribbons.
